Conventional Treatment
These are anaerobic systems where no oxygen makes its way inside the tank hence “septic tank”.
The most common types of conventional treatment are in the following list.
Standard Gravity System:
Gravity systems are a preferred method of treatment where soil and topography conditions are optimal. This system consists of a treatment tank and a drain field that is often made up of chambers.
LPD Systems:
Low Pressure Dose systems (LPD) can be installed in most types of soils and topography. LPDs are carefully designed to provide uniformity to all laterals in the drain field, this way there is even absorption of effluent on the ground. LPD’s consists of several subtypes that include: mount systems, wide excavation systems, LPD in pipe & gravel and LPD into chambers.
Evapotranspiration Systems:
An evapotranspiration (ET) bed treats wastewater by using evapotranspiration (evaporation and by transpiration of water from plants growing there). ET beds are used where the soil cannot treat wastewater before it filters to groundwater, such as in heavy clay soils.
